About Tea & Tokyo
Tea & Tokyo is a small, independent site of research guides about everyday things from Japan: matcha and Japanese tea, kitchen knives and tools, snack boxes, and the practical side of a Japan trip such as staying connected.
Why this site exists
A lot of English-language advice about Japanese products is written from product listings. Terms like "ceremonial grade" or "unlimited data" mean something different in Japan than they do on a US storefront. These guides are researched from Japan, using Japanese-language sources, maker specifications and published prices, and then written in plain English for readers in the US.
How the guides are written
- Research, not reviews. We don't publish personal anecdotes, unboxings or "I tried it" stories. Where we state a fact, we point to a maker's spec sheet, a public price list or an official source.
- No health claims. We write about taste, grades, tools and prices. We don't make claims about health benefits, weight loss or medical effects.
- Clear about money. Some links are affiliate links and are labeled at the top of the article. Commission never decides what we recommend; the comparison tables include products we earn nothing from. See the affiliate disclosure.
- Kept current. Prices and plans change often, especially for eSIMs and matcha. Each guide shows a last-checked date. If you spot something out of date, tell us.
What we are not
We are not affiliated with any brand mentioned on this site. Brand and product names are the property of their owners and are used only to identify the products being discussed. We don't give individual medical, legal, tax or travel-visa advice.
